How to Apply for a Passport Online

Please follow the below steps and get your passport without any issues. DO NOT PAY TO BROKER. ITS WASTE. They are not even allowed inside the PSK.
1. Go to the link https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink
2. Register by clicking on Register Now.
3. Once you login, you will get option "Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport"
4. 2 Alternatives to upload the data. Choose option 2 "Click here to fill the application form online"
5. Need to select Reissue, and also the passport type, Normal (Rs.1500/-), Tatkal (Rs. 3500/-)
6. Fill in all the data and save.
7. Hyderabad PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) slots open everyday at 4.30 PM, so login at that time, choose the PSK, pay the fees and it will automatically book a slot for you.
8. you can reschedule your slot for only 2 times. ( please do not do it, because once you carry all the docs to PSK after booking a slot, due to some or other issues, they may ask you to get few docs, so at that time you may need to reschedule your slot)
9. carry all originals (10th mark sheet, address proof, marriage certificate etc) and 1 set xerox copies. no need to take passport size photo, if it is PSK as they will take a snap with Cam.
10. After taking token inside, there will be 3 levels (A, B, C) of officers in the PSK
11. Level A will be TCS employees, they will enter the data, take photo, take fees and provides bill.
12. Level B will be officers from Passport who will review the data and authorize it.
13. Level C will be officers from Passport office who will Authorize your data.
In tatkal, it took 8 working days for me to get it. Hope the above steps help you to process your passport.
Passport website is bit confusing. spend time in the site such taht you can understand it. You can track your passport status online with the help of application number that they give.
