UGC NET 2015 Exam – Eligibility Criteria, Syllabus & Exam Pattern

UGC NET 2015 Exam is conducted by the National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission. This test establishes the eligibility of the candidate for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) award and lectureship. The objective of this exam is to attain minimum standards in research and the profession of teaching.

UGC NET 2015 Exam Dates

The UGC NET 2015 exam will be held tentatively in the months of June, 2015 and December, 2015. Single MCQ exam date – 21st June, 2015

UGC NET 2015 Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be an Indian national.
  • The candidate must be a graduate/postgraduate or hold a degree in B.Tech/BE/Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/MSC/PhD from a recognized university/institution, with a minimum score of 55% in the final degree exam.
  • There is no upper age limit for the exam for lectureship. The maximum age limit for JRF exam is 28 years.
Relaxation in the upper age limit may be provided, as per terms and conditions of the Government of India.

UGC NET 2015 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

This exam comprises of 2 sessions and 3 papers –
Session 1:
  1. Paper I
  • Pattern – Paper I is completely generic in nature, and focuses mainly on assessment of the candidate’s research or teaching aptitude. It tests the general awareness, comprehension, divergent thinking and reasoning ability.
This paper contains 60 objective questions, of which any 50 questions are to be attempted by the candidate. It carries a total of 100 marks, and the time duration given is 1 ¼ hours.
  • Syllabus – This section of the exam will cover:
ABD
  1. Paper II
  • Pattern – Paper II is an objective type paper which has 50 compulsory multiple choice questions, on the subject chosen by the candidate. The total marks for this paper is 100, and the time duration given is 1 ¼ hours.
The answers for both Paper I and Paper II are required to be given on an OMR sheet (Optical Mark Reader) provided.
  • Syllabus – The candidate has to choose the subject for this exam, from the list of subjects.
Session 2:
  1. Paper III
  • Pattern – Paper III is an objective style paper with 75 compulsory questions from the chosen subject. This paper carries a total of 150 marks, and the time duration provided is 2.5 hours.
  • Syllabus – The candidate has to choose the subject for this exam, from the list of subjects.
